This '59
Impala came in pretty rough. A little rust but a ton of hail damage.
Literally thousands of little dents on the hood, top and rear deck
and fender surfaces.
First we
seperate the body from the frame and take the front fenders and hood
off the body.
As you can
see, the interior is going to need some work.
The frame
gets blasted and painted along with the suspension parts that are to
be reused.
This car
came from the factory with a 315 hp. motor with 3 duces. All you old
hot rodders out there will remember that set up.
Upon
completion it will be bone stock except for after market wheels and
tires and disc brakes at all 4 wheels.
After
getting the frame in shape we go to work on the body itself. First
soda blasting to remove all the old paint and rust without damaging
the metal. Then the work on replacing all rusted out metal parts and
hammering out all those hail dents can begin.
This is the
stage this project is at right now. As the metal repair work
progresses we will be posting additional pictures showing the
procedure and follow up the project to final completion so stay tuned. |
